Giufà, a Sicilian band from the underground scene, blends the Gipsy-punk sound with the vibrant energy of the Sicilian tarantella to create a unique musical experience. This explosive mix of cultures and styles combines the raw energy of Gypsy punk with the engaging rhythms of tarantella, giving life to an original and captivating sound.
Their first single, “Brucia,” was released in 2012, paving the way for the album “Ritmo Gitano,” which came out in April 2013 and also included the second single “Rumbagitana.” The album featured a collaboration with Dudu, the lead singer of Modena City Ramblers, in the song “La Carovana Bulgara,” and was immediately praised by critics, projecting Giufà onto the international scene as one of the most promising bands in the Balkan/World music scene in Europe.
In 2014, the band returned to the studio and released the third single, “I Re Della Città,” in collaboration with Municipale Balcanica, anticipating the release of their new album Trinakristan in December 2015. Just days after its release, the song “Trinakristan” climbed to the 28th position in the national top 200 charts, further solidifying their success.
In 2019, the album It’s Everything Alright was released, confirming the band’s ability to evolve and continue to impress their audience with music that draws on Mediterranean and Balkan influences.
Currently, Giufà is working on a new album and has already recorded the first two singles, set to be released in 2024, with a third single planned for 2025. These new tracks will pave the way for the band’s next tour, promising to once again bring their explosive energy to stages across Europe.
Giufà likes to define their genre as “Gypsy Tarantella” or “Balkan Tarantella,” reflecting the fusion of sounds and influences from the Mediterranean region.
